In this post, I would like to present a list of three ski resorts of my country that are little known, compared to famous Shymbulak in Almaty, but still provide all kind of facilities for the visitors to have a great vacation.
- Ski Resort “Nurtau” is only 35 kilometers away from Oskemen city. You can get here by bus or car. The skiing season starts in December and ends in April. The longest piste is 2000 meters and there are three classifications: green, blue and red. Two ski lifts are provided. Each lifting is $1.3, which is very cheap. They have a good deal on ski-passes: weekdays- $18, weekends- $26, evening pass- $10. If you do not have any equipment, do not worry. Rent of skis and snowboards is available for $14. Other facilities like 2 cafes, a restaurant, sauna, karaoke-room are at guests’ disposal. Moreover, if you come for a few days, villa rental can be provided starting from $320 per day.
- Recreation Center “Alps of Altay” (“Altayskie Alpy”) is even closer to Oskemen city, 24 kilometers, which is 40-minute ride by bus. The season starts is between November and April. This center provides 10 slopes, including the black piste for experts and green, blue and red pistes. The resort has two lifts also, but the price is a little bit lower compared to the previous one, $1.1. If you are planning to go up and down for ten times, then you might find a “$10 for 10” deal attractive. Ski-passes are comparatively cheap (weekdays- $13, weekends- $16, night pass- $10) as well as the rent of equipment. There are three spots where you can borrow skis or snowboards starting from only $8. Since it is a recreational center, they provide both housing and a meal plan. Total cost of breakfast, lunch and dinner per day is $15. The housing fees vary depending on its type: economy ($33), junior suite ($60) or alpine house for five people ($130). Additional services like night rides, horse rides and snowmobile rentals are up for grabs.
- Ski resort “Edelweiss” is in Ridder city, which is located in the south of the country, has its doors open from November till March. All types (colors) of pistes are available, and some of them are 50 degrees steep. One ski lift costs $1, whereas ski pass costs vary from $8 to $11. The renting point offers equipment for both adults and kids, $13 and $10 per day respectively. The average bill per person is around $3 per meal. But if you choose their housing option ($16-$23), the meal plan is included in the price. In case, you want to diversify your vacation, paintball inside the resort is a good option for people of all ages.
